Meet Dr. Rubin
Dr. Rachel S. Rubin is a board-certified urologist and sexual medicine specialist based in the Washington, D.C. area. She is one of the few physicians in the country with fellowship training in sexual medicine for all genders, having trained under Dr. Irwin Goldstein at San Diego Sexual Medicine. Dr. Rubin earned her medical degree from Tufts University and completed her urology residency at Georgetown University Hospital.
In 2022, she founded her own Urology and Sexual Medicine practice to deliver comprehensive, patient-centered care for individuals of all ages and genders experiencing sexual dysfunction, including concerns with desire, arousal, orgasm, and pain. Dr. Rubin is a leading expert in the comprehensive hormone treatment of perimenopause and menopause, including genitourinary syndrome of menopause (GSM).
Beyond her clinical practice, Dr. Rubin is a passionate advocate, educator, and researcher. She serves as a Director-at-Large and former Education Chair for the International Society for the Study of Women’s Sexual Health (ISSWSH), and is an associate editor for both the Journal of Sexual Medicine Review and the Video Journal of Sexual Medicine. Her research focuses on sexual pain, low libido, erectile dysfunction, testosterone therapy for women, and the use of vaginal hormones to prevent urinary tract infections. She played a key role in developing the groundbreaking American Urological Association (AUA) 2025 Genitourinary Syndrome of Menopause (GSM) medical guidelines.
Dr. Rubin is a sought-after speaker and lecturer at medical schools and national medical conferences and has been featured in major media outlets including The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Economist, Oprah Daily, and NPR for her expertise in hormone therapy and sexual medicine.
